Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts + Art for Good

I have long admired Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts for their commitment to community engagement. The company mainly supports healthy living and sustainability, and they are strategic in their partnerships and giving initiatives.

It was such a pleasure to work with their CSR team on an art auction to benefit one of the incredible nonprofits they support, Camp Harbor View.

The art auction was hosted online with a silent auction onsite at the event, which was held at Blue Cross Blue Shield's warehouse in South Boston. Taking the art out of a corporate context helped buyers envision the artwork in their homes. All proceeds went directly to Camp Harbor View as part of their fundraising efforts for Beach Ball 2017, which brought in a total of $8.2 million.

This is a perfect example of strategic collection deaccessioning of it to benefit the community.

For as much as art is outside of the typical pillars of giving for Blue Cross, they were able to support Camp Harbor View in a creative and strategic way that not only raised funds, but also brought valuable exposure to the cause.

We're now working on a second wave of deaccessioning that is more geared toward employee engagement. Stay tuned!
